Goals Review 2023

52 Hikes in 2023 - 290 Miles

This is the goal I am most proud of this year. Here are just a few highlights.

I am a bit of a goal-setting junkie. I am not sure exactly when this started but as I get older, I realized life has a finite amount of hours, days, months, weeks or hopefully years left. I don’t know and no one knows when their time is up – we only really have today… Sounds glum, but I look at it this way, and that is to say my mantra “make each day count”. And that goes for years too. I firmly believe if there is something you want to achieve over a year that is more than a “to-do”, you have to make a list and look at it often, perhaps daily.

Each year, I make a vision board that goes on my wall in my office and a small version that goes in my morning journal as a bookmark. I don’t give myself grief if something didn’t get done. Life is unpredictable. Or maybe the goal was unrealistic for what’s going on in life right now? Either way, goals are not about shaming yourself, they are about accountability. Even if you start on a goal and don’t complete it, you’ve made progress.

Progress NOT perfection.

This year, I set out with a fairly extreme list of goals. Some of them were maintenance goals, some specific and some more vague. That said, here are some of the goals I have completed as I go into the final days of December 2023:

  1. Completed the 52 hike challenge, including summiting Mount St. Helens in WA,  and National Trail Trek in AZ with my brother
  2. Did a sleep study and am working on improving sleep
  3. Started a family tree project
  4. Completed a large mural
  5. Added 3 clients to my company
  6. Tried some new meal prep companies
  7. Explored anti inflamation diet
  8. Joined a support group for healthy habits
  9. Started our updated will
  10. Travelled to Spain with my husband
  11. Travelled to Utah with good friend
  12. Started a goals group
  13. Did more cold plunges
  14. Started painting again
  15. Continued my mindful morning routine with meditation and journaling
  16. Played more pickelball
  17. Started to learn to play Ukelele

Stay tuned for 2024 goals list. Some of these things will be moving over, along with a bunch of new adventures.
